Christian School Educators take “Summer School” Classes at CIU

Dr. Connie Mitchell, dean of the CIU College of Education chats with a student.

Dozens of Christian school teachers and administrators from across the nation and around the globe were on the campus of Columbia International University July 7-11 for the International Institute for Christian School Educators (IICSE). The annual event is presented by the Lowrie Center for Christian School Education at CIU.

The Institute focuses on the philosophy of Christian school education and its implications for today’s Christian school.

Seminars and workshops offered this year included: “Educating the Next Generation in a World of Uncertainty,” “Developing the Mind of Christ” and “Working with the Home.”

Most of the sessions were led by professors from CIU’s College of Education. The keynote speaker was Dr. Glen Schultz, headmaster of Sherwood Christian Academy in Albany, Ga., and the author of “Kingdom Education.”
